Bankstown Art Society was founded in 1958 by Artist and Tutor Ronald Peters and is one of the oldest Societies in Sydney. Currently the Society has over 200 Members and associate Members.

In its spacious, well lit studios on the first floor of the Arts and Craft Centre, theSociety provides classes in all mediums, catering for beginners, children and advanced artists.
Other activities include demonstrations by well-known Artists, weekly workshops, exhibitions of members' work and social outings.
The DE HAAN Gallery, situated in one of the Society's studios, is fully equipped with specialized lighting and hanging systems and houses a continuous supply of members' ARTWORKS.
